Tim Porter

Partner

Tim Porter, co-founder of Porter O’Brien, brings over 35 years of experience in media, public relations and management to his leadership position. With a background in senior management roles in governmental affairs, communications and marketing, Tim is adept at comprehending complex issues and crafting compelling messages for specific audiences. Tim’s extensive experience encompasses journalism, media relations consulting and effective management of high-profile projects, which he regularly draws on when consulting and leading client files. 

 

Early in his career, Tim spent time as a journalist before establishing himself as a long-tenured government professional. Tim served two decades in the government - including almost a decade as Deputy Minister, overseeing communications for all departments, and spent a five-year term as Secretary to the Council of Atlantic Premiers before co-founding Porter O’Brien.

Claudia Gervais

Associate

A compelling writer and communicator in both official languages, Claudia Gervais has served as an associate with Porter O’Brien since 2021, supporting client files involving both government and public relations. Proficient in research, digital communication and building stakeholder relationships, Claudia divides her time between Montréal and Ottawa, where she has been registered as a federal lobbyist for several Porter O’Brien clients.

Claudia’s experience outside of Porter O’Brien includes work with public relations, fundraising and nonprofits.

Claudia graduated from the University of Montréal with a degree in International Studies, where she specialized in Peace and Security, and possesses a certificate from the Canada’s Future of Work Skills Program.

Nazareth Araujo

Associate

With experience in a range of disciplines, Nazareth Araujo uses her knowledge in communications, marketing, and mediamaking to assist Porter O’Brien clients with their public affairs needs. Nazareth has experience planning events, leading research projects, managing social media accounts and excels with creative projects.

Originally from Brazil, Nazareth brings experience working with non-profit organizations and educational institutions, having worked directly with Indigenous and immigrant communities on experiential learning programs, research,and video projects.

Nazareth attended the University of New Brunswick, where she graduated from the Media Arts and Culture program in the department of Culture & Media Studies.

Caitlin Dutt

Associate

Passionate about community and storytelling, Caitlin Dutt worked to build brands to their full potential before she came to work at Porter O’Brien. Bringing a range of skills to the firm from marketing and digital strategy to relationship building and writing, Caitlin was a journalist for several years until she switched to working with the arts and post-secondary education sectors.

At Porter O’Brien, Caitlin is excited to be able to take her passion for writing and strategy and implement it to help others reach their goals.

Caitlin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications and Public Policy from St. Thomas University and a Master of Public Relations.

Faith Cormier

Associate

With an impressive educational background in Communication and Media Studies and Women and Gender Studies from Carleton University, Faith is a skilled writer that is proficient in research, editing, and managing professional relationships. Based in Ottawa, but originally from Fredericton, Faith brings a fresh perspective to public relations and a strong understanding of how to communicate a message through a variety of writing styles learned through her education.

Faith has a compelling voice that can appeal to numerous audiences and is exceptionally thorough yet resourceful in her work. Faith possesses a passion for storytelling and a great ability to understand and rework complex ideas into accessible formats.

Eduardo Luchese

Associate

Eduardo is a Management Consulting Associate at Porter O’Brien, supporting clients across public, private, and community sectors in New Brunswick. He brings a structured, analytical approach to projects, with experience in research, financial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.

Originally from Brazil, Eduardo holds an MBA from the University of New Brunswick and an undergraduate degree in Business Marketing. Prior to joining Porter O’Brien, he gained experience working with organizations in both Brazil and Canada, contributing to operational improvements, program development, and business analysis initiatives.

Eduardo is known for his collaborative style, strong work ethic, and ability to perform in high-responsibility environments. He is motivated by helping organizations clarify priorities, strengthen decision-making, and move projects forward with confidence.

Meeral Tashfeen

Associate

Meeral Tashfeen is a Government Relations Associate at Porter O’Brien, bringing a strong foundation in research, policy analysis, and event planning to her work. Based in Ottawa, she contributes to client initiatives on public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategies across different levels of government.

Prior to joining Porter O’Brien, Meeral gained experience at research institutes and non-profit organizations, where she supported policy research, prepared briefing materials on current affairs, and monitored legislative developments.

Meeral holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Columbia University, with a minor in Political Science and a focus on international relations.

Nish Kutty

Associate

With an interdisciplinary perspective rooted in media and marketing, and a growing interest in law and policy, Nish Kutty approaches public relations with both creative instinct and analytical rigour. She has developed a versatile skill set across media production, journalism, and strategic communications, with a particular focus on community engagement and public-facing writing.

Before joining Porter O'Brien, Nish served as a Policy Researcher with the Government of New Brunswick, contributing to standards development under the 2024 NB Accessibility Act through multi-jurisdictional legislative research and policy analysis, alongside plain-language communications. She has also held coordination and management roles in non-profit and academic settings, directing end-to-end projects and leading campaigns that supported executive messaging across multiple platforms.

Nish holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Marketing from the University of New Brunswick.

Amelia Reid

Associate

Amelia is a communications and business professional who brings a creative, collaborative, and strategic approach to her work. She is passionate about helping organizations communicate with clarity and purpose, transforming complex ideas into engaging content and meaningful outcomes.

Drawing on her experience as an analyst at a private sector consultancy, Amelia has supported public sector initiatives across health, education, and social policy. She enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders to navigate complex challenges, translate information into clear insights, and develop practical recommendations that drive action.

Amelia holds a Master of Business Administration, including international studies at Copenhagen Business School, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University.

Jean François Pelletier

Consultant

Jean François Pelletier is a veteran public affairs officer with extensive experience navigating the media landscape. Entering his fourth decade in the industry, he is well-known and well-liked by journalists across the Maritimes and in Quebec and uses these relationships to assist Porter O’Brien clients in gaining the media attention they need.

Prior to joining Porter O’Brien, Jean François worked for the government of New Brunswick as a senior media relations specialist for over three decades.

Leo Blyth

Property and Operations Coordinator

Leo serves as Porter O’Brien’s Property and Operations Coordinator.

He has worked as a consultant on projects ranging from real estate acquisition to detailed planning, organizing and implementation of operations.

Leo excels at finding creative and innovative solutions to complex issues, and sometimes capital-restrictive transactions, bringing a sense of individuality to his work.

Always excited to overcome new hurdles and hone skills in new environments. He also has a miniature schnauzer named Willy.
